Radiator Springs lives

JoAnn and I are away for a quiet weekend of doing nothing. I'm not telling where. It's just not where anyone would expect us to go. And it seems to be perfect. It's quiet. No telephone. Television when we want it. A mini-suite with really comfortable chair, couch, and beds. It also has a pretty good breakfast.

Now for a bit of a hint. I went out for a walk this morning, just to stretch my legs and make sure they still worked. As I was walking down the road I went by the police station and looked up. Wow, there was the sheriff from Radiator Springs. Not only that, but when we look at the terrain around where we are staying it even looks like Radiator Springs. Naturally, I couldn't pass up a chance to take a photo. So, here's the Sheriff and we are close to Radiator Springs. What a great weekend.

Baking Cookies

It is a time-honored tradition to bake cookies at our home. Of course, now that children are gone we don't bake cookies nearly as often. This weekend daughter 3 is in town for 5 full days and she and Grandma had quite a list of things to get accomplished. Sugar cookies was on that list and on Saturday afternoon we got to the "baking cookies" portion of the list. I can't remember the last time we baked sugar cookies at our house. It was fun and all I had to do was wander in occasionally and swipe a bit of batter (watch for it).

The 2:29 minute movie (without sound) is below. For those of you who want sound turn on Aretha Franklin's "Respect" it is just about the right length. Oh, and be sure to watch for the cheesy shots. It was a cloudy day that is why the color seems to change all of the time.

Been there - Saw that or "We beat you Donna"

Okay, what can I say. We are sitting at lunch with our daughter and her husband today when I suggest, "Let's go see the new James Bond movie." Everyone was up for it. I checked my iPhone and found out we had 10 minutes. We drove across Charleston to the Red Rock, got our tickets and watched Quantum of Solace. If you've watched Donna's blog you know she has been touting it for weeks now - but we beat her. Of course as soon as we got in the theater we SMSd her with a "At Quantum of Solace. Eat your heart out!" After the movie we called and she said, "Don't tell me anything!" At 7:10 pm we got a text message saying "I'm third in line for seats." and the part she didn't tell was, it doesn't start of another 90 minutes. No, we are not giving any of it away.
